August 6-13, 2017
Dance the carnival! with Niels Badenhop.
Newcomers to baroque dance and false beginners will be introduced to the basics of the style or freshen up their knowledge, enjoying the spirit of Carnevale likewise.
La Venitienne with Pia Brocza
A couple dance for the ballroom by French dancing master L. G. Pécour, reflecting the French fashion for all things Italian in about 1700. This class is especially suitable for participants with a good basic knowledge of baroque dance who already know a coupé from a pas de bourrée!
Sarabande de Monsieur Beauchamp with Bernd Niedecken
This beautiful, elaborate man's solo is one of only two extant choreographies by Pierre Beauchamp, famous dancer and "father" of the Feuillet notation. In last year's advanced class, Bernd's students worked on the first part of the dance. This year the focus will be on the second part of the solo.
Dance the carnival! with Niels Badenhop

La Matelote à deux with Pia Brocza
Another beautiful couple ball dance to music from Marin Marais' opera Alcyone (1706): The "Air des matelots", the "sailors' melody", was one of the great musical hits of its time.
Choreographic dance studio with Bernd Niedecken
Bernd's afternoon class will allow students to develop masquerade dance scenes. Suitable for advanced and moderately advanced dancers.
